Charleston, SC, April 8, 2024 – Berenyi, Inc., announces that Michael Herren, a native Georgian, has joined its team overseeing the planning and execution of the firm’s Savannah-based projects. Herren has been a part of Savannah’s industrial growth for nearly a decade, providing valuable management expertise to deliver successful outcomes, and is now spearheading the growth of Berenyi’s Savannah office.
“Over the past few years, Berenyi has expanded its footprint further south to Savannah, and we were looking for a project manager that not only possesses experience but understands the nuances of doing business in Georgia,” said Jordan Behringer, Berenyi’s managing partner. “Michael has the experience we were looking for, and has high energy and standards, which the industry and our team demands.”
A 2018 graduate of Georgia Southern University, Herren jump-started his career while earning his bachelor’s degree in construction management. Eager to gain hands-on experience before joining the workforce, he immersed himself in the construction industry, interning with several companies, including the Georgia State Finance and Investment Commission (GSFIC), working on commercial projects for Lavender & Associates (Statesboro, GA), and finally rounding out his education with an internship at J.E. Dunn (Savannah, GA) where he honed his practice, servicing the healthcare, higher education, and hospitality industries. Upon graduation, Herren landed employment in J.E. Dunn’s Savannah office.
“I knew that I wanted to be part of the real estate industry, but it wasn’t until I was in college, learning through my internships about the business of construction and how it is fundamentally critical to support economic growth that I envisioned building a career out of my passion,” Herren admits. “Living and working in Savannah allows me the opportunity to be a part of projects that will directly impact my home state’s economic growth,” he added.
Before joining Berenyi, Michael was a project manager for Evans General Contractors (Savannah, GA), specializing in end-to-end fulfillment. While at Evans, his primary focus was managing tilt-up industrial building projects, while also being involved in all aspects of pre-construction, estimating, design development, and managing customized tenant build-outs. Herren was attracted to Berenyi because of its industry-expert position in the heavy industrial design-build category, including tilt-up construction, which offers clients a cost-effective, efficient solution to their development needs.
“Industrial construction fulfills the logistical needs for the infrastructure port cities require to operate,” said Herren. “I have witnessed the Savannah market continue to grow dramatically through industry demand over the last few years. I am thrilled with the partnership opportunity, culture, and competitive advantage that Berenyi is bringing to the market,” He added.
Herren recently earned his student pilot’s license and enjoys flying, spending time with family and friends, and investing in real estate. Married to Alexis Poag Herren, a talent acquisition manager with Andersen Tax, the couple resides in Richmond Hill, GA with their beloved yellow lab, Cash, and are active members of the CrossFit Hightide gym.
Since 1989 Berenyi has played an integral role in South Carolina’s burgeoning industrial growth, leading design-build projects for local and regional clients as well as global manufacturers, including Boeing, Mercedes, and Symrise. A full-service partner, the Berenyi team includes veteran architects, seasoned engineers, and capable project managers as it takes client projects from concept to completion. Berenyi is headquartered along the banks of the Cooper River in Charleston and operates a satellite office in Savannah, GA to better service clients beyond the Lowcountry.
