Bank of America

In 1987, the Bank of America (formerly known as NationsBank) commissioned this prototypical design for locations around the southeast.  Designed by Clay Wine, AIA, now Director of Architecture at Berenyi Incorporated, the original prototype was located at the Ashley Phosphate Road location in North Charleston, SC.  Using classic detailing, a large glass entry and vaulted ceiling interior, the bank quickly became a local favorite. Not long after it was built, Hurricane Hugo hit town and left the branch untouched. It served as the center of operations as the other branches were reconstructed. Since that time, the bank prototype has been adapted for over fifty locations in North and South Carolina.
