Tony was a teenager when he moved with his family to Union, South Carolina from a farm in Montana. He earned a degree in civil engineering at The Citadel and accepted a commission with the US Army Reserve to attended Engineer Officers School. He continued his education, earning a master’s degree in structural dynamics at at MIT, the nation’s top ranked engineering school.
Berenyi, Inc. opened for business in 1989, but within months Tony was called to serve in Operation Desert Storm. He put his career on hold and went to Iraq where he was entrusted to command a 250-man unit, spanning two countries. Tony was awarded the distinguished Bronze Star as a result of his active-duty leadership. When he returned home, Berenyi, Inc. was launched in earnest.
For more than 30 years, Tony has led the Berenyi team through complex industrial and commercial design-build projects across the nation. The company’s expertise extended to Africa in 2016, where Tony led an infrastructure improvement project in Kenya.
Tony provides invaluable leadership and insights to Berenyi projects companywide. In addition to assembling an incomparable team of architects, engineers, builders, and project fulfillment specialists, Tony developed and instituted the Berenyi Business Program. This proprietary set of operational guidelines for client engagement and project processes guarantees streamlined, efficient, and consistent high-quality deliverables for the company’s impressive client roster.
Tony has authored three hardback books including The Berenyi Life Blueprint, The Code and Secrets for Savvy Business Owners. His popular leadership podcast, What Leaders Say, features interviews with notable influencers, business and civic leaders and covers a variety of topics. He is renowned for his generosity, mentorship, and contributions to individuals and local nonprofit organizations. He is also a respected business and leadership consultant.
He lives in Charleston, South Carolina. He has four daughters and enjoys boating and fishing in his spare time.
